Response: He does not need the government to provide the road in front of his house either. He has plenty of resources to build his own. There are numerous benefits provided by the government that some people could well afford to provide themselves. This ComingTogether Plansimply includes minimal financial resources among them.
The reason that the benefits would be provided to the wealthy is that there are others who do “need” them, and there are severe consequences to a society which cancels the benefits just at the point when a recipient becomes productive. We suspect that the benefits under the ComingTogether Plan are quite minor compared to the value to the wealthy of income tax deductions, lower tax brackets, tax credits, etc. that they enjoy now. Remember this plan includes a strict flat tax (no loopholes allowed). See the comment “Your Plan Means More Taxes for Me”.
